Max Speed: Average sp
Distance Covered: 30.4 mls (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Hadn't planned riding today after Fridays 30mls, but the ride wasn't smooth and comfortable. Have changed my old Focus cayo road bike for a Specialized Diverge Comp gravel bike and just transferred my old dimensions over, but it isn't quite right so tried another 30 miler again today to tweak dimensions. Upper body and arm load was too high + knee pain after ride and kept sliding forwards in saddle + my shoe was brushing the crank! Seat went up, saddle slid back, levelled saddle to dead horizontal + move cleats over.
Normally I do one at a time but each fault was quite different now. Course was Sproughton Claydon St Augustine's Purdis Nacton Levington Marina and back via Ipswich docks, with reggae music as usual in the helmet. The Diverge gravel gear change is very smooth and slick, and with a 2 x crank, it just about covers every up/downhill and reached 32mph today on a downhill past the Ship pub at Nacton. Heaven knows what would have happened if a vehicle was approaching, as I just about made the corner! The disk brakes are excellent and the hydraulic operation sharp. I always struggled up the following hill but as said, the low gearing is perfect on the 2 x + 11 spd rear end, but cadence was over 100 spinning in the small cog with ease. The tweaks were almost perfect after 20 miles, but raise the saddle another 1cm. No wrist pain was spot on but with the cleats max to one side my wayward knee was forcing the heel in touching the crank so will have to get a pedal extension.
Nice ride but the rain threatened the whole journey, but the marina was sunny. Thankfully there was little breeze to fight on the open stretch on the old Felixstowe road. Road home via the docks and had to dismount as there was a large fair happening. No matter which bike I ride I seem to average 13mph over 20 miles. My averaged dropped riding thru the docks and what looked like football traffic around the football ground area so finished up about average 12mph. Kept the ride in the Cardio zone with average HR 113 maxing at 141 and burning about 1100 cals according to the chest monitor. The 30.4 mls took 2hrs 31, so OK average cadence about 80.
